Dr. Mark Goldberg is a vascular surgeon with a special interest in traditional vascular surgery as well as endovascular and minimally invasive procedures including angioplasty and stents. Dr. Goldberg attended Rush Medical College (the oldest medical school in Chicago), and then completed a general surgery residency at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. He matriculated from a two year vascular surgery fellowship at Tufts University - New England Medical Center in Boston. After completion of his fellowship he became an assistant professor of surgery at Tuffs University. He was later awarded an American Heart Research grant-in-aid for the study of intimal hyperplasia using molecular biology techniques. He is also an accomplished medical device inventor with over ten patents issued. Dr. Goldberg was responsible for the creation of the Uresil valvulotome which is the most successful instrument for insitu bypasses of the lower extremities. Areas of clinical interest include revascularization of limb threatening ischemia, minimally invasive techniques including aortograms, angioplasty, abdominal aortic aneurysms, subintimal angioplasty, remote endarectomy, stent grafts and cryoplasty as well as many other alternative treatments for vascular disease. Dr. Goldberg has begun two research studies for Vascular Solutions. One involves the use of subintimal angioplasty for limb salvage. Cases of extreme limb salvage can be seen in our interesting cases posted on this web site. The other project involves the removal of thrombus in lower extremity DVT and studying the physiologic improvement and patient satisfaction.He is married with two children. | |||||||||||||
